Comparative analysis of optimal endoglucanase production by Trichoderma reesei and intergeneric fusants of Trichoderma reesei Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Abstract: Intergeneric fusants of Trichoderma reesei QM 9414/Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCIM 3288 developed in the authors' laboratory can convert cellulosic materials directly to ethanol in a single step process. The production of endoglucanase in this case is a key factor. The production pro®le of this enzyme by the intergeneric fusants is different from Trichoderma reesei QM 9414 (WT). The production of endoglucanase was studied seperately by Trichoderma reesei (WT) using optimal production medium which was designed as… Show more

“…Response surface methodology (RSM) has been applied in biotechnological studies to optimize the medium components for the production of xanthan by Xanthomonas campestris (Roseiro, Esgalhado, & Collaco, 1992), endoglucanase by Trichoderma reesei QM 9414, etc. (Sinha & Panda, 1998).…”

“…Moreover, the interactions between different variables can be estimated. To date, this technique has been used by several researchers to optimize medium components [8–10].…”

“…Statistical experimental designs are also used to screen and then optimize the media composition. They reduce the number of experiments needed and consider the interaction among variables (8,9). The most widely used statistical experimental designs, such as the Plackett-Burman design and fractional factorial design, are based on factorial design of experiments.…”
