Comparative analysis of cotton covered elastomeric hybrid yarns and denim fabric properties

Abstract: In recent decades, consumer expectations and behavior have altered, focusing on more comfortable, well-fitting clothes. Wearing a slim-fitting garment helps to move more freely. Different elastomeric polymers are being introduced as a core constituent of the yarn to make denim fabric more comfortable during movement. The use of elastic material ensures that the material is stretchable and recoverable. The performance of several elastomeric hybrid yarns has been investigated in the first section of this study. … Show more

“…The literature review provides enormous outcomes on the improvement of the properties of core-spun yarns containing single-core filament, mostly elastane. Textile researchers and producers have very recently developed dual-core yarns, and due to being a new type, there is a special focus on these yarns [ 4 , 7 , 8 , [13] , [14] , [15] , [16] , [17] , [18] , [19] ]. However, less significant research on optimizing the spinning parameters of dual-core yarns highlights the need for further investigations.…”

“…This supports the previous study of fabrics including elastane, as single or double core yarns, having greater stiffness than fabrics that do not. 40 The lowest warp flexural rigidity was observed in T1 coded 50% modal/ 50% Naia™ included fabric, and the lowest weft flexural rigidity value was observed in T4 coded 36% Naia™/35% modal/25% cotton/4% cashmere included fabric. The overall flexural rigidity results of the fabrics are shown in Figure 8.…”

“…Normally, cotton staple bers have been a favorite choice for the sheath (Babaarslan et al, 2021;Erbil et al, 2022;Zou et al, 2023). The elastane core lament (such as Lycra®, Creora® and Inviya® I-300) provides elastic properties while the sheath cotton bers contribute aesthetic properties like absorbance, comfort and feel (Kiliç et al, 2020).…”
