Compact Uwb Band-Notch Mimo Antenna With Embedded Antenna Element for Improved Band Notch Filtering

Abstract: Abstract-A compact printed ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with embedded structure is proposed. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of two coplanar waveguide-fed (CPW) antenna elements, and the element with smaller size is built in the radiator of the other element. Thus, the compact size, 30 × 22 mm 2 , is completely determined by the larger one, which makes the MIMO antenna have similar size to the conventional single UWB antennas. The antenna elements are fed perpendicularl… Show more

“…The schematic of proposed dual band notch UWB MIMO antenna front and back view is shown in Figure A,B, respectively. The dimensions of embedded T‐shaped slot is calculated by the equation Lnormalλg2=c2×fnormalc×1+ɛr2 Lnormalλg4=c4×fnormalc×1+ɛr2 whereLnormalλg2 and Lnormalλg4are the half wavelength and quarter wavelength resonator length, c is the speed of light in free space, ɛ r is the relative permittivity and f c is the notch central frequency. The optimized dimensions of the small rectangular stub protruded with the feed line are 2 × 3.2 mm.…”

“…Therefore, in many UWB antenna design problems, it becomes essential to eliminate the interfering bands. Various UWB MIMO antennas exhibiting single/multiple band rejection characteristics have been reported in the last few years . However, MIMO antennas deploying elliptical patches with a high value of eccentricity are relatively less explored.…”

“…A coplanar waveguide (CPW)‐fed MIMO antenna with two radiating elements located perpendicularly to each other for achieving better isolation was proposed. In this design, four distinct stubs were embedded to eliminate 5.15‐6 GHz band from the UWB spectrum . A dual‐port MIMO antenna with the ground plane loaded with a pair of rectangular strip for notching 5.15‐5.85 GHz frequency band and T‐shaped stub for mutual coupling reduction was reported for UWB applications .…”
