Compact Sext-Band Bandpass Filter With Sharp Rejection Response

On a basis of multimode resonator (MMR) using SIRs‐loaded tapered‐line (SIRTL),novel quad‐ and sext‐band bandpass filter are investigated and fabricated. Due to some merits like existing accurate analytical technique, simplicity in construction and excellent matching behavior, parabolic tapered‐line are selected as the building block of MMR. In addition, with SIRs loaded at different points of tapered‐line, quad‐ and sext‐band responses can be obtained. Moreover, relationship between parabolic tapered‐line and profile of microstrip is set up. Accordingly, circular‐profile microstrip has been chosen to realize parabolic tapered‐line. Therefore, designs of quad‐ and sext‐band bandpass filter become available. Good agreement between simulated and measured results validates the design method.

Compact quint‐band Bandpass Filter design in a rigorous manner utilizing multimode stub‐loaded taper

On a basis of 2 multimode resonators (MMRs) using stub‐loaded taper, a compact quint‐band BPF is proposed. Progressively, triple open‐circuited stubs and notch are loaded to taper without introducing extra coupling paths, and both tri‐, quad‐ and quint‐band BPF responses are available. In this way, design procedure is rigorous and reduction of coupling paths minimizes the quint‐band BPF design complexity, simultaneously. Meanwhile, owing to the cancelling effect of notch, independent control on central frequencies of 2 passbands can be achieved. The insertion loss is lower since taper is adopted to the building of MMR. Good agreement between simulated and measured results validates the design method.

Sext‐band bandpass filter with compactness based on cascading stage of SIRs

Utilizing cascading stage of SIRs (CSIRs), a miniaturized sext‐band bandpass filter is investigated and fabricated. Purposely, two‐section SIRs with high/low impedance‐ratio are built up for not only enough spurious frequency for sext‐band application, but excellent control on these frequencies. In addition, architecture of CSIR, namely number and arrangement of employed SIRs, is optimized for widening potential frequency range with good response in each passband. Meanwhile, on account of transversal signal interaction concept together with mixed electric magnetic coupling of CSIRI,II, transmission zeros (TZs) and transmission poles (TPs) can be excited alternately. Since coupling is introduced by embedding CSIRs without adding any other structures, configuration of proposed design is compact. Moreover, tapped position of 0° feeding branch can be adjusted for improving filter performance. Therefore, design of miniaturized sext‐band bandpass filter becomes available. Good agreement between simulated and measured results validates the design method.
