Compact printed monopole antenna on liquid crystal polymer (LCP) for EWB applications

Abstract: A compact tapered CPW-fed hollowed printed monopole antenna on the liquid crystal polymer (LCP) substrate with an extremely wide bandwidth (EWB) is introduced. The simulated results demonstrate that this antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth from 0.435GHz to 14.52GHz (33:1) for VSWR≤2, and exhibits a nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern, while its area is only about 0.18λ l ×0.13λ l , where λ l is the wavelength of the lowest operating frequency.

“…The asymmetrical dipole of circular shape (substrate εr = 2.33) The feed is perpendicular to the antenna plane, but no inclusion of the cable effect in their model 0.7986-17.4663 GHz (182.5%/21.9:1) • Dipole elevation liked radiation pattern at the azimuth plane when lied at the horizontal plane. • Simulated result in [30] shows deep null in the antenna design but not in [28] that shows non-correlation between both results. This discrepancy can be due to the unbalanced feed that has the cable effect.…”

“…It has the size of 230 × 230 × 30 mm that with a higher profile due to the two stack of loop structures. The super wideband asymmetrical dipole of circular shape in [26] and elliptical monopole on trapezoid ground plane in [27][28][29][30] offers smaller size compared to the symmetrical antenna. The elliptical monopole antenna resembles a 2D planar discone antenna.…”
