Abstract-This letter presents a dual-wideband bandpass filter (BPF) by using open and shorted stubs loaded ring resonator. The resonator can excite multiple resonant modes. The transmission zeros (TZs) analyzed by the transversal signal interference concepts can divide the resonant modes into two groups that form dual-wide passband. The even-mode resonant frequencies can be controlled by the stubs parameters, and the TZs can be tuned by the port angle independently. So the center frequency (CF) and the bandwidth of each passband can be flexibly controlled. An experimental dual-wideband BPF with CF of 1.48/5.7 GHz and 3 dB FBW of 137.8%/49.3% is implemented, and the experimental results are presented for validation.

Abstract-A novel compact dual-wideband bandpass filter (BPF), with two multi-mode resonators (MMRs), a quad-mode one (QMR) and a triple-mode one (TMR), is proposed in this paper. The first passband is generated by a QMR loaded with a short-ended stub and two open-ended stubs, and the second one is realized by a TMR loaded with a square ring and a short-ended stub. Each passband can be tuned separately by controlling the corresponding resonator. The classical even-/odd-mode analysis is applied to characterize the presented MMRs due to their symmetric configurations. In order to validate the design methodology, a dual-wideband BPF prototype centered at 2.34 and 3.46 GHz with fractional bandwidths of 25.6% and 21.4% for WLAN and WiMAX applications is designed, fabricated and measured. Measurements have good agreement with simulations.

[Abstract]This paper presents a dual-wideband bandpass filter (BPF) with high band-to-band isolation and skirt selectivity using distributed composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) quad-mode resonators (QMRs). The results of the proposed distributed CRLH TL unit cell analysis are used to establish the scattering parameters and the resonance frequencies of the QMR constituting the dual-wideband BPF. A novel dual-wideband bandpass filter is designed and fabricated, using the derived scattering characteristics. The measured results show that the fabricated dual-wideband bandpass filter has an insertion loss of less than 1.08dB in the lower band, and of 2.01dB in the upper band, a bandwidth of 2.8−5.52GHz and 9.68−12.26GHz, and a band-to-band isolation of more than 38dB, from 6.34−8.42GHz.
