Compact Dual-Band Siw Bandpass Filter Using CSRR and DGS Structure Resonators

Abstract: In this paper, a Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) band pass filter loaded with a square Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) etched with Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is proposed. SIW is a promising candidate for the design and development of various microwave and millimeter wave components useful in communication systems. Due to the evanescent mode propagation and TE 10 mode of the cavity, dual band (5.57/7.84 GHz) filtering is achieved with a 3 dB fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 6.8% and 4.1%, respe… Show more

“…With the combination of SIW technology and CSRR on a single planar substrate, it is possible to create a simple band pass filter with an elevated quality factor for wide band communication applications [16]. It has been confirmed that when CSRRs are etched on the radiating part of planar communication, signal transmission is excluded in the surrounding area of their resonant frequency, avoiding unwanted signals [17]. Various methods have been presented in previous research, and it is possible to predict the resonant frequency of a CSRR structure from its geometrical parameters [18].…”

“…In [13], a filter with dual passbands using tapered SRRs which consist of asymmetric shape square rings with interlinking is developed. In [14], a bandpass filter with CSRR and defected ground structures using substrate-integrated waveguide technology is proposed. In [15], a dual bandpass filter based on coupling between two identical SRRs and a CSRR is presented.…”

“…From literatures, defected ground structure (DGS) is used in RF and microwave circuit designs such as antennas [20], [21], filters [22], [23], power amplifiers [24] and power dividers [25]. The use of the DGS in these circuits has different purposes, such as harmonics or frequency suppression [20], [22], [23], [25], wideband performance [21], circuit miniaturization [22], [23], [25] and load matching network [24]. Therefore, in this paper, a DGS is proposed for the reconfigurable bandstop to allpass filter for mm-wave communications such as 5G technology in the 26 or 28 GHz band (K-band).…”
