Compact dual-band circularly-polarized frequency reconfigurable microstrip antenna for BeiDou navigation satellite system application

Abstract: A novel dual-band circularly-polarized frequency reconfigurable microstrip antenna with the feasibility of obtaining a relatively smaller size is proposed and demonstrated. Fed by a Wilkinson power divider with 90° phase difference, the proposed circularly-polarized frequency reconfigurable patch antenna, consisting of a patch radiator etched with a square-ring slot and a double-sided printed DC bias circuit, is designed, analyzed and fabricated. Good agreement between simulated and measured results is observe… Show more

“…In references [11,12,13,14], many Vivaldi antennas have improved their gain, bandwidth, compact profile, and other characteristics by loading periodic slots, dielectric lens, patch in between two fares of the antenna. Of course, micro-strip antennas are also choices due to low-profile, low cost, and easy-to-integrate properties [15,16,17]. However, the only broadband characteristics cannot meet the increasingly high channel capacity requirements of modern communication systems.…”
