Compact and efficient lossy mode resonant refractive index sensor for aqueous environment

Abstract: A very short length high sensitivity, large figure of merit and very high resolution integrated-photonic refractometer for aqueous environment operating in visible region of wavelength is proposed. The sensor design depends on the periodic coupling of the guided dielectric optical waveguide mode field and the lossy mode field of the conducting Indium-tin-oxide thin film.
