In this article, we delve into the collaboration dynamics of Warung Murakabi Minggir, a social entrepreneurship praxis of collaboration that uniquely merges art, locality, and mutual cooperation to tackle social issues. The purpose of this research is to understand how the participants make sense of their collaborative experiences in Warung Murakabi Minggir. Our study employs Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to delve into the lived experiences and viewpoints of the individuals engaged in the collaboration. This article sheds light on the critical role of collaboration within diversity in establishing sustainable social entrepreneurship practices. The findings of our study emphasize a deep comprehension of how collaborative experiences in Warung Murakabi Minggir serve as catalysts for generating positive social impact. Moreover, the research emphasizes the pivotal role of collaboration, how the dynamics of collaboration can either facilitate or impede progress of Murakabi Minggir as social entrepreneurship praxis

PurposeThe purpose of the study is to explore the experiences and sense-making of middle managers in transitioning to and implementing hybrid work arrangements.Design/methodology/approachUsing the lens and analytical procedures of interpretative phenomenological analysis, data were collected during the transition time at the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic as many organizations were navigating the hybrid work setup. In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 middle managers from various organizations in the Philippines that have been implementing a hybrid work arrangement for at least 3 months.FindingsFindings illustrate the challenges experienced by the middle managers in facilitating a smooth transition to onsite work, managing adjustments on when and where to work and bridging the imperatives of top management as well as the preferences of team members (managing upward and downward). The results describe strategies used by middle managers to balance deliverables and employee needs while demonstrating compassionate leadership in relating with direct reports. The middle managers also engaged in self-care, used reframing and sought support from family and peers to cope with challenges.Practical implicationsThe findings exemplified how the middle managers experience of transitioning to hybrid work reflect various contextual and cultural nuances. These external realities must be considered in providing support to these groups of employees particularly in developing leadership programs that addresses their social and emotional needs.Originality/valueThe paper contributes to the limited research on middle managers' experiences in a hybrid work setup despite their critical role as change agents responsible for leading teams (van Dam et al., 2021).

El emprendimiento tiene una relación importante con la sociedad civil y puede ser un instrumento significativo para el desarrollo en un territorio determinado. Los emprendedores tienen un papel protagónico en el cambio y creación de nuevas ideas que generen recursos para el desarrollo común y con un alto impacto social. La investigación partió con el propósito de analizar el impacto de los emprendimientos comunitarios y productivos implementados por la Asociación 5 de junio en el desarrollo local del sector Las Piedras, parroquia Picoazá, cantón Portoviejo. El estudio fue desarrollado de febrero de 2022 a junio de 2023, mediante un diseño metodológico correlacional utilizando dos tipos de instrumentos de recolección; una encuesta dirigida a 34 ciudadanos de la comunidad relacionados al desarrollo local y emprendimiento, y una entrevista estructurada con 20 miembros de la Asociación, de emprendimiento productivo. Los resultados de las encuestas analizadas mediante la construcción de índices y por técnicas estadísticas multivariantes evidencian niveles medios en emprendimiento y desarrollo local. Los hallazgos de las entrevistas revelan la valoración de la capacitación como factor clave en la ejecución de emprendimientos productivos. Asimismo, se encuentra una correlación de Spearman inversa muy alta entre las variables estudiadas. Se destaca como conclusiones que esta asociación aporta al desarrollo local del sector a través del fomento al emprendimiento mediante la generación de nuevos negocios y oportunidades económicas, además existe una necesidad de mejorar la percepción sobre los emprendimientos comunitarios y los proyectos de desarrollo local en la comunidad.
