“…Over the past several decades, numerous investigations have been put forward that examine psychological or neighborhood SOC (Christens & Lin, ; Elfassi, Braun‐Lewensohn, Krumer‐Nevo, & Sagy, ; Speer, Peterson, Armstead, & Allen, ). Our own work has attempted to examine the ways in which SOC manifests in various contexts including urban neighborhoods (e.g., Lardier, ; Lardier, Reid, & Garcia‐Reid, ), supportive housing for foster care alumni (Forenza & Lardier, ) and mentally ill adults (Forenza & Lardier, ), and among community coalitions (Lardier et al, ). Taken together, findings on SOC indicate that a perceived positive SOC is associated with positive outcomes such as greater ethnic identification (Lardier, ), more organizational involvement (Christens & Lin, ; Speer et al, ), and greater voice and action in the community and in community coalitions that focus on community social change (Lardier et al, ).…”
