People who resettle to make way for large-scale infrastructure development are widely acknowledged as vulnerable to a range of impoverishment risks in the field of developmentcaused displacement and resettlement (DCDR). Global policy safeguards and standards aim to protect affected populations by requiring project developers to avoid displacement where possible and mitigate and manage harm through resettlement.
