“…Research has shown an increase in feelings of family cohesion and adaptability as youth move from adolescence into emerging adulthood, reflecting their perception of the functioning of the broader family system rather than just one dyadic relationship (Parra et al, 2015 ). Colaner et al ( 2021 ) reported on the relational maintenance behaviors of godparents in their communication with emerging adult kin, revealing the associations between the behaviors of assurances, social networks, and self-disclosure and relational closeness.
