“…Furthermore, CPN palsy has been reported to be caused by a prolonged posture, surgery, a fracture, casting, and, rarely, by tumors of the popliteal fossa, although an idiopathic cause is most commonly encountered. [1][2][3] Spontaneous venous aneurysms are uncommon and are of little clinical significance in most cases. In particular, popliteal venous aneurysms are a rare disease entity, and few cases have been described.…”

“…Though CPN palsies are reported after the neurosurgical operations performed in sitting position, it is very rare in supine positioned procedures espacially after ACDF operations. [4] In the literature we could find just one case of a CPN palsy after anterior cervical discectomy operation which is reported by Yi et al 2 .…”

“…Among the various postoperative complications of ACDF operation, peripheral nerve injuries related to the intraoperative positioning have been reported very rarely in neurosurgical practice so the true incidence remains unclear. A review of the literature found just one case report describing Olgu Sunumu / Case Report common peroneal nerve palsy due to surgical positioning after ACDF operation 2 . In this report we describe a common peroneal nerve (CPN) palsy, in our opinion which is facilitated by dislipidemia, after an anterior cervical discectomy operation and discuss the medicolegal implications of intraoperative nerve injuries in the light of the foregoing literature.…”

“…Such a report brings forth several other instances where CPN palsy was reported in association with some unrelated procedure or instances as reported by the authors in current report. Few of such reports were anterior cervical operation, [2] liver surgery [3] and pronged wave surfing. [4] We believe that what is reported in the literature could be just the tip of the iceberg and many similar cases might have gone unreported.…”
