Commission 14: Atomic and Molecular Data

Abstract: The main purpose of Commission 14 is to foster interactions between the astronomical community and those conducting research to provide data vital to reducing and analysing astronomical observations and conducting theoretical investigations. One way that the Commission accomplishes this goal is through triennial compilations on recent relevant research in astronomy, atomic, molecular and solid state physics, and related fields of chemical analysis. The most recent compilations appear in the accompanying set of… Show more

“…The literature provides a wealth of information about this subject, and these experimental and theoretical data were used here. To acquire comprehensive knowledge about this field, the monographies published by the International Astronomical Union (Peach et al 2009;Wahlgren et al 2012) or some reviews about Stark broadening of spectral lines (Lesage 2009) can be consulted.…”

“…The most recent compilations appear in the accompanying set of Commission 14 WG Triennial Reports, which were produced by members of the WGs and the OC (Federman et al 2015;Nave et al 2015;Peach et al 2015;Vidali et al 2015). Triennial Reports for the past triennia, starting from 2000-2003, were published in Transactions IAU (Smith 2003;Johansson et al 2007;Federman et al 2009;Wahlgren et al 2012;Federman et al 2012;Nave et al 2012;Peach & Dimitrijevic 2012;Vidali 2012).…”

“…Except for the most prominent features, atomic spectra are virtually unchartered territory for wavelengths in the near-IR region and longer; therefore, high-precision IR wavelength calibration requires continued laboratory analysis (Wahlgren et al 2012). …”
