“…However, our sample is even poorer T A B L E 1 Analysis results all of these samples with a FC content of 1.4%. Besides, the VM content (51.3%) is almost comparable with the average VM content of 50.1% for 16 samples given in literature that have VM contents in the range of 42.5-65.3% 20,21,25,[27][28][29][31][32][33][34][35][41][42][43][44][45]. “…The HHV and the ash content of solid fuels are the key parameters to characterize the fuel quality, and the analysis results of SS sample indicate that it has relatively poor fuel properties. The ash content, which is 47.3%, is relatively high compared to the average ash content (40.0%) of 13 different samples of SS in literature whose ash contents change in range of 27.3–53.8% on dry basis. Besides, HHV, which is 11.6 MJ/kg, is lower than the average HHV (14.0 MJ/kg) for eight SS samples whose HHVs vary between 5.2 and 20.1 MJ/kg.…”

“…Tobias Pape Thomsen et al introduced the control technologies of the SS in various parts of the world and summarised their characteristics and limitations. Given the high moisture and low calorific value of the SS, reusing the heat value as a separate fuel is not feasible; thus, most researchers focused on co‐combustion with other high‐calorie fuel . Documents also pointed out that many studies on the kinetics of the co‐combustion between SS and coal laid a good foundation for the practical application of the SS thermal energy.…”

In the study of synergism of co-combustion between sludge and coal, Ruikun Wang 12 pointed out that the reaction rate is a key factor in the heat transfer.…”
