Combustion and Emission Characteristics According to the Fuel Injection Ratio of an Ultra-Lean LPG Direct Injection Engine

Abstract: Abstract:The effect of the fuel injection ratio on the combustion and emission characteristics of stratified lean mixture combustion was investigated for a spray-guided liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) direct injection engine. Inter-injection spark-ignition combustion-a specially designed combustion strategy for LPG fuel derived from a two-staged injection-was employed to maximize the improvement in thermal efficiency when combustion stability is secured. When changing the fuel injection ratio, the optimum spark … Show more

“…This happens due to the increased fuel pressure and compression ratio in direct injection topologies, resulting in combustion cycles at elevated temperatures. This, in turn, generates a greater quantity of harmful gas emissions and particulate matter [35]. However, as specified in [36], researchers achieved a better operation regime than conventional GDi engines.…”

“…In various countries, processes have begun to restrict the entry of diesel vehicles into city centers, as well as bold plans to completely withdraw from the production of diesel-powered passenger cars. In connection with the above steps, both car concerns and scientific units have returned to more intensive development of spark ignition propulsion units [9,33,34]. These are gasoline engines as well as engines powered by other alternative fuels burned in an internal combustion engine operating on the basis of the Otto cycle.…”

“…AFR settings were intended to produce complete combustion throughout the engine load [16,17]. In fact, the need for engine power is more than the fulfillment of low emissions.…”
