Combretastatin A-4 derivatives: synthesis and evaluation of 2,4,5-triaryl-1H-imidazoles as potential agents against H1299 (non-small cell lung cancer cell)

Abstract: A number of 2,4,5-triaryl-1H-imidazole derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their antiproliferative activities against the growth of five cell lines including three non-small cell lung cancers (H460, H1299, and A549), one breast cancer (MCF-7), and one normal diploid embryonic lung cell line (MRC-5). Preliminary results indicated that both 2-(5-bromofuran-2-yl)-4,5-bis{4-[3-(dimethylamino) propoxy] phenyl}-1H-imidazole (10f) and 4,5-bis{4-[3-(dimethylamino)propoxy]phenyl}-2-(5-nitrofuran-2-yl)-1H -im… Show more

“…Our scope was extended to study the effect of various five‐membered rings fused to the purine nucleus and encouraged by the fact that various reports stated potent anticancer activities for imidazole rings . So compound 1 was reacted with different reagents: cyanamide and thioacetamide to produce imidazo[1,5,4‐ gh ]purin‐5‐amine 8 and 5‐methylimidazo[1,5,4‐ gh ]purine 9 , respectively.…”

“…Imidazole moiety is a backbone for some biomolecules such as adenine, guanine, histamine, histidine, cyanocobalamin, and biotin [6]. Due to its ubiquitous applications as antimicrobial [7,8], antifungal [9], antiparasitic [10], antidepressant [11], antioxidant [12], and anticancer [13] and reported to possess anti-inflammatory [14], analgesic [15,16], and antidiabetic [17] properties, the current investigation was carried out to design and synthesize few imidazole-based molecules for the antimicrobial properties. Since infections are the major challenges in the health-care system, developing and exploring new antimicrobial agents are always an important research area [18].…”
