“…Since then, the procedure has commonly been used to repair distal hypospadias [11,12]. However, most of the Mathieu repairs form an irregular neomeatus such as a horizontal and rounded or slightly lower meatus from the apex of the glans [13,14]. Later, Snodgrass described a new method as a complement to the Thiersch-Duplay urethroplasty in which tubularization of the urethral plate was facilitated with a deep longitudinal incision of the entire length of the groove [15].…”

“…Gray et al 11 noted complete or partial foreskin dehiscence (the latter referred to as a skin fistula without involvement of the urethra), with an incidence of 0%-30%. There were no major complications or reoperations in a study by Aminsharifi et al 12 of 40 cases in which the combined technique of a Mathieu procedure and a tubularized incised plate with circumcision was used. Snodgrass and Khavari 13 reported that prior circumcision in a group of 63 patients with hypospadias and an intact prepuce did not complicate subsequent hypospadias repair in males whose urethral anomaly was concealed by an intact prepuce.…”

“…The technique is simple and provides good cosmetic results. This technique simplified decision making in distal hypospadias surgery because the operation was successful regardless of various meatal and urethral plate configurations encountered [10].…”
