Combined surgeries for retroperitoneal tumors.

Abstract: e23579 Background: Retroperitoneal tumors are rare heterogeneous malignant tumors. Due to their poor response to chemoradiotherapy, surgery is the main treatment option. Currently, there is little data on treatment outcomes in patients who underwent en block resection of retroperitoneal tumors and major vessels. Our purpose was to analyze surgical and oncological results in patients with retroperitoneal tumors and major blood vessel involvement. Methods: 27 patients received surgery for retroperitoneal tumors… Show more

“…The treatment effect of cancer are not only related to the existing medical technology, but also affected by many uncertainties, such as delayed detection, serious complications, and delayed treatment due to the pandemic and natural disasters, which would lead to lower cure rate of cancer . Currently, the clinical treatment methods for cancer contain surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, thermotherapy, and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy, , but the efficiency and effectiveness are limited by the complexity and heterogeneity of tumoral tissues . The early diagnosis and effective treatment of cancer are of significance to improve the survival rate and relieve the discomfort of patients .…”

“…Malignant tumors, commonly known as cancer, represent the second leading cause of death worldwide and pose a significant public health challenge . Current cancer treatments include surgery, , radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. , Chemotherapy, in particular, plays a pivotal role in inhibiting cancer cell growth. However, chemotherapeutic drugs suffer from several limitations, such as poor solubility, low bioavailability, and lack of tumor-targeting ability. , Moreover, they often result in severe adverse effects, such as alopecia, vomiting, myelosuppression, nephrotoxicity, and mucositis, thereby restricting their clinical use. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in nano-anticancer drugs that aim to maximize therapeutic efficacy while minimizing toxic side effects associated with chemotherapeutic agents. , …”
