Microwave-assisted three-liquid-phase extraction (MATLPE) was applied to extract diosgenin and untransformed saponins in Dioscorea zingiberensis C. H. Wright (DZW) fermentation broth from Trichoderma harzianum. The partitioning behaviours of various steroids were investigated, and the removal of soluble protein, microbial cells and raw herb residuals were studied. A three-liquid-phase system (TLPS) consisting of 30% (w/w) ethanol, 15% (w/w) (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 , 40% (w/w) petroleum ether and water was selected. The optimal microwave extraction parameters were as follows: liquid/solid ratio, 80:1; microwave time, 120 s; and microwave power, 380 W. MATLPE integrated the extraction and separation of diosgenin and the untransformed saponins, the separation of solids and liquids, and the removal of soluble impurities (reducing sugars and proteins) in one step. Compared with other methods, MATLPE consumed smaller amounts of reagents, achieved higher recoveries, and resulted in several-fold higher concentrations of diosgenin and saponin extracts.

Synthesis of copolymers such as poly (styrene alternative maleic anhydride) (SMA), (SMA+ Melamine +1,3-diaminopropane) (CSMA-M), (CSMA-M + propanedioic acid) (CSMA-MP) and (CSMA-M + butanedioic acid) (CSMA-MB) for removing heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. Adsorption of Cd (II), Pb (II) and Zn(II) on modified copolymers and adsorption behavior of these heavy metal ions on the adsorbents were studied by altering the characters such as pH, adsorbent dose, contact time, and heavy metal ions concentration. Adsorption percentage was increased by increasing each of these parameters. The isotherm models such as: Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich were applied to illustrate adsorption equilibrium. The outcomes shown that the best consistency was accessed with the Langmuir isotherm equation, production maximum adsorption capacities of these adsorbents are very suitable for removing heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. The adsorbents were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract. The Xiaodian sewage irrigation area in northern China has a long history of sewage irrigation. The surface water and groundwater samples were collected and analyzed in this region. All the 25 kinds of antibiotics have been detected in the surface water in this study area. The order of average detection frequency is Macrolides (MLs, 98.2%) > Fluoroquinolones (FQs, 91.3%) > Tetracyclines (TCs, 87.5%) > Sulfonamides (SMs, 75.0%). The sample with the highest concentration of antibiotics (730.19 ng/L) is located at Taiyu Drainage Canal while that with the lowest concentration (245.93 ng/L) at Xiaohe River. The type and concentration of antibiotics in SW-3 and SW-4 were almost the same, indicating the measures to prevent canal banks from seepage were able to retard their transport into the soil and groundwater system via lateral recharge. Along the Beizhang Drainage Canal, the sewage from the swine farm, the cow farm, the irrigation field and domestic usage were all discharged into the canal, so the concentration kept increasing. Along the down gradient direction of Taiyu Drainage Canal, the concentration decreased. Transport of the contaminants via lateral recharge due to lack of seepage prevention measures, therefore, poses a potential threat to the soil-groundwater system. 15 of 25 kinds of antibiotics were detected in the groundwater. The detection frequency was lower than other study areas in China. The concentrations ranged from 2.75 ng/L to 114.38 ng/L with the average concentration of 27.60 ng/L.
