“…A significant correlation (r ¼ 0.971) was confirmed between the BPA values measured by the ELISA and the high-performance liquid chromatography [31]. In recent years, commercially available ELISA kits were well designed for the determination of human serum BPA concentration, and were widely used in epidemiological studies [12,17]. The kidneys are the major organs for the excretion of BPA, and renal excretion of BPA is dependent on GFR, renal tubular secretion, and reabsorption [12].…”

“…This was a prospective observational study conducted on patients attending the Environment, Inflammation, and Metabolic Diseases Study (EIMDS) [16,17]. The EIMDS aimed at evaluating the influence of environmental and inflammatory factors on metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and CKD.…”

“…In men with obesity, metabolic syndrome and DM2, the activity of the male HPG axis and the T production are decreased, which lead to androgen deficiency [95][96][97]. Along with this, in diabetic men the plasma level of estrogens and the ratio of estrogen/T are significantly increased, which due to the increased activity of aromatase and the altered production of sex hormone-binding globulin [98][99][100][101]. The elevated concentrations of reactive oxygen species and inflammatory factors lead to the damage in Leydig cells and reduce their steroidogenic activity [97,102].…”

“…The EIMDS aimed at evaluating the influence of environmental and inflammatory factors on metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease [9,10]. Essential hypertension was defined as an average blood pressure ≥140/90 mmHg on at least two different occasions, without any evidence of secondary hypertension.…”
