Combined Effects of Annealing and Cyclic Loading on Structural Rejuvenation and Mechanical Properties of CuZr Metallic Glass: A Molecular Dynamics Study

Abstract: Structural rejuvenation is one of the key topics in the field of metallic glasses (MGs). In this work, we evaluated the combined effects of annealing treatment and elastic cyclic loading to discover pathways for promoting structural rejuvenation and improving the mechanical properties in the MGs. Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, it was revealed that the sole cyclic loading led to the increase of rejuvenation degree; however, a saturated state was observed upon the 40 th cycle. On the other side, the … Show more

“…The 1 st atomic shell, dominating the short‐range order (SRO) in the range of 2.93–3.14 Å can be attributed to Zr‐Zr pairs while the left shoulder in the range of 2.75–2.93 Å is mainly attributed to Zr‐Cu pairs. [ 93–95 ]…”

[93][94][95] Peak position measurement based on the first PDF peak in Figure 3b1 shows a constant position for all samples except SB-L with a slight shift to the larger distances. Evaluation of full width at half maximum (FWHM) displays higher values for the feeding powder and the SB samples compared to the GB samples with SB-L showing a maximum value.…”

“…The brazing process is a welding technology that is widely used in industry for joining materials in the form of pipes, sheets, or plates, both similar and dissimilar metals [1]. Brazing or soldering is conducted by using a metal filling or solder metal between the metal surfaces to be joined [2].…”
