Combined Effect of Thermal Modulation and AC Electric Field on the Onset of Electrothermoconvection in Anisotropic Porous Layer

Abstract: This article deals with linear stability analysis of thermal convection in a dielectric fluid saturated anisotropic sparse porous layer subject to simultaneous effect of time-periodic modulation of wall-temperature and vertically imposed AC electric field. The modulation amplitude is assumed to be small. Regular perturbation method is being used to compute the onset criterion. The frequency of modulation is found to play a decisive role in regulating the convection. Symmetric modulation destabilizes while asym… Show more

“…They found that low frequency g-jitter has a stabilizing effect but enforcing an ac electric field diminishes the effect. Mahantesh (Swamy, 2017) studied the effect of temperature modulation in dielectric fluid with anisotropic medium. It was observed that asymmetric modulation has a stabilizing effect, whereas symmetric modulation gives an opposite effect.…”
