Combined Close Range Photogrammetry and Terrestrial Laser Scanning for Ship Hull Modelling

Abstract: The paper addresses the fields of combined close-range photogrammetry and terrestrial laser scanning in the light of ship modelling. The authors pointed out precision and measurement accuracy due to their possible complex application for ship hulls inventories. Due to prescribed vitality of every ship structure, it is crucial to prepare documentation to support the vessel processes. The presented methods are directed, combined photogrammetric techniques in ship hull inventory due to submarines. The class of ph… Show more

“…Examples of such surfaces include water, snow, glass walls of high-rise buildings or windows. This makes it impossible in practice to generate a point cloud or orthophoto of these surfaces [ 47 , 48 , 49 , 50 ]. In such cases, an increase in flight altitude is applied which, in turn, allows to extend the terrain size of the photo and illustrate a larger terrain context.…”

“…During the second stage, proper post-processing of the data is done. Our experience in laser scanning measurements post-processing and aggregation of the results is available also in the following publications [49][50][51][52]. Our recent use of laser scanning during the final acceptance test is described in [53].…”

“…These techniques were used also e.g. for ship hull modelling (Burdziakowski et al, 2019) or for nondestructive testing of the miter gates (Binczyk et al, 2020). In the integration of scanning data, other contemporary mathematical models, such as wavelet ones, have also started to be used (Kędzierski et al, 2014), which is also an interesting approach and the authors of the publication plan to test these methods in the future.…”
