The main factors influencing the shape of the beach, shoreline and seabed include undulation, wind and coastal currents. These phenomena cause continuous and multidimensional changes in the shape of the seabed and the Earth’s surface, and when they occur in an area of intense human activity, they should be constantly monitored. In 2018 and 2019, several measurement campaigns took place in the littoral zone in Sopot, related to the intensive uplift of the seabed and beach caused by the tombolo phenomenon. In this research, a unique combination of bathymetric data obtained from an unmanned surface vessel, photogrammetric data obtained from unmanned aerial vehicles and ground laser scanning were used, along with geodetic data from precision measurements with receivers of global satellite navigation systems. This paper comprehensively presents photogrammetric measurements made from unmanned aerial vehicles during these campaigns. It describes in detail the problems in reconstruction within the water areas, analyses the accuracy of various photogrammetric measurement techniques, proposes a statistical method of data filtration and presents the changes that occurred within the studies area. The work ends with an interpretation of the causes of changes in the land part of the littoral zone and a summary of the obtained results.

Non-Destructive Testing of the Longest Span Soil-Steel Bridge in Europe—Field Measurements and FEM Calculations

The article describes interdisciplinary and comprehensive non-destructive diagnostic tests of final bridge inspection and acceptance proposed for a soil-steel bridge made of corrugated sheets, being the European span length record holder (25.74 m). As an effect of an original concept a detailed and precise information about the structure short-term response was collected. Periodic diagnostics of bridge deformations was done one year after it was built. Load test design was based on numerical simulations performed by means of finite element method (FEM). In situ measurements were done with the aid of: inductive sensors, optical total station, and terrestrial laser scanner. The results produced by terrestrial laser scanning were used to build a precise image of structure deformation in 3D space during the tests. The accuracy of laser mapping was significantly increased using the information coming from total station and inductive sensors. These have higher accuracy and therefore can be used as reference. Thus, new quality in measurements is introduced. Good correspondence between in situ values and FEM estimations was achieved. Therefore, such a combination of testing methods can be used in non-destructive diagnostics of structures and is an interesting alternative for the standard approach, in which the measurements are done in limited number of points.

Abstract. The authors of the paper were looking for a simple methods of the examination the airframe structure framework as part of the scientific and research project. The main tasks were: carrying out tests and analyses in defining external geometry of a selected plane with three independent methods i.e., geodetic (surveying), photogrammetric and laser scanning and selection of one of these methods as fast and acceptable accurate (below 3 mm) measurement applied to examine plane geometry. The carried out experiments were mainly aimed at answering the question if tested measurement methods give satisfying and acceptable results in case of works referring to the objects such as plane and if the assumed accuracy is realistic to be achieved by these measurement techniques. The authors testing the available on the market methods of the measuring the geometry of planes in the aspect of the selection of most accurate, but at the same time, fast measurement method. Thus three independent methods were tested: classical geodetic measurement, laser scanning by means of two independent scanners and photogrammetric method (based on the generated cloud of points). Experiments carried out so far in various centres worldwide usually included measurements of single elements or small models of planes. In surveying measurements of large objects, mainly buildings are predominant (e.g. surveying or photogrammetry in the inventory of historic architectural monuments, studies of the geometry of engineering constructions, etc.). The objective of the experiment carried out by the authors was to find good solution somewhere in the middle, i.e., apply geodetic measurement methods, but apply them for so-called medium-size objects such as planes.
