Combination of polymer and halloysite chemistry for development of a novel catalytic hybrid system

Abstract: A covalent hybrid of halloysite-poly(methyl methacrylate-co-maleic anhydride) was prepared and applied for the immobilization of Pd nanoparticles. The hybrid system, Pd@Hal-Gua-Poly, was then characterized via TEM, TGA, ICP, BET, FTIR and XRD and successfully used as a heterogeneous catalyst for promoting two main Pd-catalyzed reactions, i.e. hydrogenation of nitro-arenes and Suzuki coupling reaction under mild and eco-friendly conditions. The study of recyclability of the catalyst confirmed high recyclability… Show more

“…Such spacing was shifted to a lower 2θ equal to about 20.20° and 24.88°, respectively. This result indicates that the crystal structure of HNT remained unchanged with the formation of the ternary hybrid network [33]. Two other peaks of HNT detected at 2θ of 20.10 • and 24.58 • indicative of the tubular halloysite structure were confirmed with the presence of d100 and d002 basal reflection, which is equivalent to basal spacing of 4.412 and 3.617 Å, respectively.…”

“…Compared with the material HCPs, the catalytic activity and stability of the immobilized precious metal were signi cantly improved, because of its organic cage frameworks and the coordination between the heteroatoms in HCPs and metal ions, which could x the ultra-ne metal nanoparticles in the cages and make the metal particles rmly anchored to maintain an excellent activity in the long term, as well as serving as a catalyst support for the production of heterogeneous catalytic converters. [7][8][9][10].…”
