Colorimetric Detection of Urine Glucose Based ZnFe2O4 Magnetic Nanoparticles

Abstract: In this paper, we discovered that ZnFe(2)O(4) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) possess intrinsic peroxidase-like activity. ZnFe(2)O(4) MNPs exhibit several advantages such as high catalytic efficiency, good stability, monodispersion, and rapid separation over other peroxidase nanomimetics and horseradish peroxidase (HRP). ZnFe(2)O(4) MNPs were used as a colorimetric biosensor for the detection of urine glucose. This method is simple, inexpensive, highly sensitive, and selective for glucose detection using glucose… Show more

“…2D). The detection limit was calculated to be 0.1 μM (3σ rule), which is two orders of magnitude lower than other GNRs-based glucose sensors (Liu et al, 2013;Saa et al, 2014) and is almost the lowest among nanoparticle-based glucose sensors (Table S1, Supplementary Information) (Bi et al, 2015;Bo et al, 2013;Jiang et al, 2010;Kong et al, 2014;Luo et al, 2015;Radhakumary and Sreenivasan, 2011;Shen and Xia, 2014;Shiang et al, 2009;Su et al, 2012Su et al, , 2015bXia et al, 2013;Yi et al, 2013;Zayats et al, 2005;Zhao et al, 2015;Zheng et al, 2015). In addition, the small error bar of the data indicates the method has very high stability (Fig.…”

“…The development of colorimetric assay for urine glucose detection has attracted much attention because of its low cost, visuality and potential for on-site/ in-home application. Even though many colorimetric glucose sensors have achieved satisfactory sensitivity, yet the real practicability is still limited by the need of complex sample pretreatment, such as centrifugal separation (Bo et al, 2013;Su et al, 2012Su et al, , 2015aZheng et al, 2015).…”

“…A LongerPump (LSP04-1A) was used for liquid injection. 4 MnPs were prepared using a one-step hy- drothermal synthesis method as described elsewhere [34] but with some modification in Figure 1. Briefly, CuCl 2 ·2H 2 O (0.2131 g, 2.5 mmol) and FeCl 3 ·6H 2 o (0.675 g, 5 mmol) were dissolved in ethylene glycol (EG) (20 mL) to form a clear solution under vigorous stirring, followed by the addition of NaAc (1.8 g) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) 2000 (0.5 g).…”

“…The catalysis of peroxidase substrate 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB) was tested in the presence of H 2 o 2 in room temperature [34,49]. CuFe 2 o 4 , gQDs, CuFe 2 o 4 /gQDs composites were added into the peroxidase substrate TMB in the presence of H 2 o 2 respectively, which displayed different color reaction [ Figure. …”
