“…Different from the above conventional strategies, oxidative polymerization of dopamine can form protective polydopamine (PDA) coatings on Al NPs under mild conditions. Dopamine has abundant catechol and amine groups and thus can form eminent adhesion on metal surfaces via electrostatic interaction and/or hydrogen bonding. Although inherently more stable than conventional coatings, PDA coatings are still vulnerable in harsh conditions like alkaline solutions and hot liquids due to non-covalent interactions in the PDA coating .
