Colloidal stability of motor oils during prolonged storage

Abstract

Samples of motor oil M-10G 2 k taken from various producer plants are investigated to determine the dispersivity of calcium-containing, detergent-dispersing additives. Results of the investigation are used for comparative evaluation of the physical stability of oils during storage. The feasibility of improving the dispersivity of the compositions of additives in lube oils is demonstrated with use of a specially developed procedure.The in-service effectiveness of motor oils is ensured, as a rule, by the various functional additives that are contained in them.
