Collider implications of Kaluza-Klein excitations of the gluons

Abstract: We consider an asymmetric string compactification scenario in which the SM gauge bosons can propagate into one TeV −1 -size extra compact dimension. These gauge bosons have associated KK excitations that present additional contributions to the SM processes. We calculate the effects that the KK excitations of the gluons, g ⋆ 's, have on multijet final state production in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider energy. In the case of dijet final states with very high p T , the KK signal due to the … Show more

“…In the unitary gauge, i.e. ξ → ∞, the 5D-QCD Feynman rules reduce to those presented in [23]. The factors δ k,l,m ,δ l,k,m , δ k,l,m,n andδ k,n,l,m imply selection rules for the triple and quartic coupling of the KK modes A a (n)µ and A a (n)5 , which are typical for the interactions between bulk fields.…”

“…Flavor non-universal scenarios appear in the case of the topgluon where the third generation quarks are assigned to one SU (3) group and the light quarks to the other [5,6], and the newer axigluon models where different chiralities of the same quark can be charged under different groups [7][8][9][10][11][12]. Other examples of color-octet vector bosons include Kaluza-Klein (KK) gluons which are excited gluons in extra-dimensional models [13], technirhos which are composite colored vector mesons found in technicolor [14][15][16] models that include colored technifermions, and low-scale string resonances [17].…”

“…Having defined the appropriate R ξ gauge through the gauge-fixing term in (14), we can recover the usual unitary gauge, in which the Goldstone modes decouple from the theory, in the limit ξ → ∞ [20,21]. Thus, for the case at hand, we have seen how starting from a non-covariant higher-dimensional gauge-fixing condition, we can arrive at the known covariant 4-dimensional R ξ gauge after compactification.…”
