Collaborative Working Architecture for IoT-Based Applications

Abstract: The new sensing applications need enhanced computing capabilities to handle the requirements of complex and huge data processing. The Internet of Things (IoT) concept brings processing and communication features to devices. In addition, the Cloud Computing paradigm provides resources and infrastructures for performing the computations and outsourcing the work from the IoT devices. This scenario opens new opportunities for designing advanced IoT-based applications, however, there is still much research to be do… Show more

“…As overview of the MCC proposals, they aim to carry out a collaborative work for distributing the processing load and meeting the application requirements [20,21]. In most cases, these applications have special features and are high demanding of computing resources such as multimedia analysis [22], high volume of data [23], or real-time constraint [4].…”

“…In general, the majority of the browsed and reviewed literature has been rejected for further consideration because they usually only mention in one sentence in the introduction section how the IoT or web QoE can improve a user's QoL in some form of smart context lacking deeper consideration of those influences [34][35][36][37][38].…”

“…In this way, no raw data need to be communicated to remote servers. Instead, only the useful and relevant information is centralised to make smart decisions [20,21]. In addition, deploying the firstlevel intelligence closer to the sensors produces an increase in the overall energy efficiency and significantly reduces the communication needs of many IoT applications.…”
