Collaboration strategy selection in BIM-enabled construction projects: a perspective through typical collaboration profiles

Abstract: PurposeCollaboration is essential to BIM-enabled construction projects (BECPs). To facilitate collaboration, various strategies have been proposed. Usually, project team adopts single collaboration strategy for convenience. However, BIM-based collaboration is rather dynamic and exposed to a lot of barriers and risks, which easily changes collaboration conditions among partners. Therefore, better understanding of collaboration conditions in BECPs is crucial to develop flexible and suitable strategies. To fill i… Show more

“…Sustainability departments generally do not have their own budgets and are, therefore, reliant upon the CE interventions of their internal colleagues, like asset management. Internal learning and joint development paths are thus important to enable a CE business, especially in BIM-enabled construction (Chen et al. , 2022).…”

Internal learning and joint development paths are thus important to enable a CE business, especially in BIM-enabled construction (Chen et al, 2022). One of the participants (C5P2) describes how this is perceived: We are still engineering customer-specifically but must change to modeling more process- [and], production-specifically.…”

“…Zhou et al validated that SCS as a new framework for mega construction projects could realize collaborative work and information sharing among participants [50]. The research team from Sheffield University developed an information interaction platform integrating intelligent design monitoring to realize the coordination and communication of all stakeholders [51], which is critical for SCSs [52]. However, the adoption of advanced technologies also creates new challenges for construction site organization.…”
