Coliform and Colifecal Analysis In Water Form Various Sources Using The MPN (Most Probable Numbers) Method

Abstract

Water is a natural resource that is very important for the needs of many people, even for all living things. Therefore, clean water is a requirement for health assurance. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the number of Coliform and Colifecal bacteria contained in a body of water and to find out whether the quality of the water meets the requirements and is suitable for use in daily needs according to Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2021 concerning the implementation of environmental protection and management life. Coliform and Colifecal analysis was carried out in two stages, namely the predictor test and the confirmatory test with different media. The method used in this research is the Most Probable Number (MPN) to detect and count the number of bacteria. Based on the results obtained for 9 test samples. samples A and B did not contain Coliform and Colicefal bacteria, while samples C, D, E, F, G, H and I contained Coliform and Colifecal bacteria in water bodies. The conclusion of this study is that the water quality of all samples is still quite good according to the Class II water quality standards, namely 5000 MPN index/100 ml.AbstrakAir merupakan sumber daya alam yang sangat penting untuk keperluan hidup orang banyak, bahkan untuk semua makhluk hidup. Oleh karena itu, kebersihan air menjadi syarat bagi terjaminnya kesehatan. Tujuan dari analisis ini adalah untuk mengetahui jumlah bakteri Coliform dan Colifecal yang terkadung dalam badan air dan untuk mengetahui apakah kualitas air tersebut memenuhi persyaratan dan layak untuk digunakan dalam kebutuhan sehari-hari menurut Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia Nomor 22 Tahun 2021 tentang penyelenggaraan perlindungan dan pengelolaan lingkungan hidup. Analisis Coliform dan Colifecal dilakukan dengan dua tahap yaitu uji penduga dan uji penegas dengan medium yang berbeda. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Most Probable Number (MPN) untuk mendeteksi dan menghitung jumlah bakteri. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh terhadap 9 sampel uji. sampel A dan B tidak mengandung bakteri Coliform dan Colicefal, sedangkan sampel C,D,E,F,G,H dan I mengandung bakteri Coliform dan Colifecal pada badan air. Kesimpulan penelitian ini kualitas air semua sampel masih cukup baik sesuai dengan standar baku mutu air Kelas II yaitu 5000 indeks MPN/100 ml.
