Abstract:Alginate
hydrogels are widely used for tissue engineering and regenerative
medicine due to their excellent biocompatibility. A facile and commonly
used strategy to crosslink alginate is the addition of Ca2+ that leads to hydrogelation. However, extracellular Ca2+ is a secondary messenger in activating inflammasome pathways following
physical injury or pathogenic insult, which carries the risk of persistent
inflammation and scaffold rejection. Here, we present graft copolymers
of charge complementary heterodime… Show more
“…The slight background leakage of protein may result from ion exchange in the PBS. 14 Correspondingly, the 520 nm emission of the irradiated area in fibrous-Au/protein-GG was significantly decreased (Fig. 6f), while there was a slight decrease in the emission for fibrous-Au/protein-GG without irradiation.…”

“…The hydrogel formed by this composite polymer skeleton can have a variety of special structures and functions at the same time. After the introduction of other macromolecules into the sodium alginate hydrogel, 111 due to the entanglement between molecular chains, crosslinking can indirectly act on sodium alginate molecules. Such sodium alginate hydrogel usually has a variety of physical and chemical effects.…”

The convenient and low-cost dressing can reduce the difficulty of wound treatment. Alginate gel dressing has the advantages of low prices and safety in use, which it has obvious potential...
“…Clapacs et al investigated the effects of coiled-coil (CC)- and Ca 2+ -crosslinked alginate hydrogels on macrophages in vitro and in vivo . 65 Following LPS stimulation, murine peritoneal macrophages were encapsulated in hydrogels crosslinked with CC or Ca 2+ and subsequently characterized for IL-1β release and macrophage phenotype. Cells encapsulated in CC-crosslinked gels released significantly less IL-1β compared with those encapsulated in Ca 2+ -crosslinked gels.…”

The use of biomaterials in biomedicine and healthcare has increased in recent years. Macrophages are the primary immune cells that induce inflammation and tissue repair after implantation of biomaterials. Given...
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
