Coherent nonlinear structures in dense electron—positron plasma

Abstract: It is shown that rarefactive-type double layer structures exist in ultradense electron-positron plasma. For this purpose, an extended Korteweg de Vries equation is derived and solved analytically in the low amplitude limit by employing the appropriate fluid equations. A strong influence of quantum degeneracy pressure of electrons and positrons, quantum diffraction effects and concentration of background positive ions on double layer is noticed. It is also pointed out that the amplitude and steepness of the dou… Show more

“…In the context of dense astrophysical plasmas, many researchers have investigated nonlinear wave propagation in degenerate e-p [29][30][31] as well as e-p-i [9,24,32,33] plasmas with various insights. Rahman et al [24,33] studied both linear and nonlinear ion-acoustic waves in relativistic degenerate e-p-i plasma with relevance to dense astrophysical objects like white dwarfs.…”

“…Dense electron-positron pairs are demonstrated to be in the early universe, in solar atmosphere, and in inertial confinement fusion schemes using ultra-intense lasers. [1][2][3] One expects to uncover some mysteries of the universe by studying dense pair plasma state created via laser-plasma interactions in the laboratory. [4] For example, ultra-bright gamma ray burst is generally accepted as arising from synchrotron emission of relativistic shocks in pair plasmas.…”

“…[41] The nonlinear solitary waves and shock waves were studied in relativistically degenerate electrons and positrons plasmas. [42][43][44][45] Accordingly in the present paper, we study the QIAWs in unmagnetized plasmas consisting of positive and negative ions as well as inertialess relativistically degenerate electrons and positrons. Here the ions are considered to be classical and inertial, while the electrons and positrons are treated as being inertialess, which will be considered as weakly relativistically degenerate plasma or an ultrarelativistic one.…”
