Coherent fluorescence resonance energy transfer: Construction of nonlocal multiparticle entangled states and quantum computing

Abstract: The coherent Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) combined with Scanning Near-Field Optical Microscopy (SNOM) are proposed for the creation of complex and nonlocal entangled states involving hundreds of atoms. Micro-and millisecond decoherence times of the electron excitation occur for rare-earth dopant ions in crystals at low temperatures, and we show that the characteristic coherent FRET distances for such systems are of the order of 20 nm. Thus, both position and time precision necessary for the qu… Show more

“…This situation is also quite common with the stan dard case of two interacting two level systems when the resonance condition is only approximately hold (see e.g. [30]), of which the inexact resonance for the coherently interacting donor and acceptor(s) is a par ticular example, see also [12,31,32].…”

“…(21) has good accuracy, and it can be increased further by taking into account more terms of the series Eq. (10). Most important is that it gives the general dynamics picture, while, e.g., conventional application of the perturbation theory (PT) may provide a satisfactory description for a time period considerably (orders of magnitude) shorter than the presented solution (see Fig.…”

“…The existence of naturally occurring clusters of resonantly interacting RE ions in crystals gives them a head start. Moreover, the coherent interaction between RE ions may be switched on and off by means of an atomic-force microscope needle [10].…”

“…In turn, electrostatic interaction in DNA is described in paper of Kornyshev and Wyncveen (2009). As concerns FRET, origination of quantum entanglement under such mechanism is described in paper of Sekatskii et al, (2003). FRET also occurs in DNA, whereof it is described for example in paper of Ota et al, (1998 ).…”
