Coherent 3-D imaging of model targets

Abstract: A.bstract-The instrumentation radar described here uses precessional motion of captive targets and a wideband waveform at centimeter wavelengths to derive polarimetric, three-dimensional images. System operation and examples of data from simple shapes and a scaled, real target are discussed.

“…Understanding the central integrative processes which command and regulate sequences of behavior a t the level of individual neurons continues to have a high priority for neurophysiologists. There has been some progress towards this goal in vertebrates, for example in the mammalian cerebellar-cortex (Eccles, Ito, and Szentagothai, 1967;Marr, 1969) and in the cerebral cortex (Chow and Leiman, 1970). In the Mauthner cells of lower vertebrates (Wilson, 1959;Rovainen, 1967), direct correlations between behavioral acts and individual neuron activity has been possible.…”

“…Hence, one has to perform a near-field measurement. In the study of wave-target interaction, high resolution radar images have been produced using near-field measurement techniques [2][3][4][5][6]. Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) is normally used to transmit a string of discrete frequency over wide bandwidth and measure the phase and magnitude of target backscatter with a scanning mechanism.…”
