“…In the present study’s cohort, patients with specimens showing the presence of coexisting tumor types, which presumably arose in the setting of prior thyroid disease, had better survival outcomes. This finding supports the results of a recent US National Cancer Database study, which found that a group of patients with ATC and coexisting PTC areas (n = 386 862) had a longer median OS of 7.8 (95% CI, 6.8-9.6) months compared with a group with only ATC tumors (n = 763), which had a median OS of just 3.7 (95% CI, 3.5-4.0) months. Han and colleagues reported that 10 (67%) of 15 patients with 24-month OS or longer had coexisting histologic findings showing differentiated thyroid carcinoma compared with 20 of 80 (25%) patients with less than 24-month OS.…”

“…It's presumed that patients who have coexisting well-differentiated thyroid cancer with the anaplastic component are at an overall survival advantage when compared to those who have pure anaplastic thyroid cancer [20] .…”

“…Захворюваність на АК оцінюється в 1-2 випадки на один мільйон населення в рік [54]. У 30-50% випадків АК може існувати поряд з диференційованими карциномами ЩЗ [55][56][57].…”
