The poor aqueous solubility ( Fato et al, 2010 ) and low bioavailability of CoQ10, due in part to its interactions with the multi-drug efflux pump P-glycoprotein (P-gp), have limited the development of topically active formulations of this drug ( Hirano and Iseki, 2008 ).
