Coeliac disease: part 1

Abstract: In a nutshellMalabsorption in CD can result in deficiencies of various nutrients, including folate, B12, B6, iron, magnesium and calcium, the latter leading to higher risk of osteoporosis and fractures.Gluten avoidance will improve all of these, but it may take quite some time - up to several years in some cases. Appropriate nutritional testing and supplements should be considered.
