CodeMP: Network coded multipath to support TCP in disruptive MANETs

Abstract: TCP over Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) is challenging due to frequent route breaks, high random errors, and DATA-ACK interference. Network coded multipath approaches have been shown in several previous studies to be an effective transmission paradigms in disruptive networks. However, most of the previous studies either have no adaptive redundancy control or rely on theoretical models that require knowledge at all relays of the entire network state. In this paper, we propose a network coded multipath scheme f… Show more

“…Besides these, there are other approaches to address the TCP performance problem in coded networks. Reference [15] proposes a network coded multipath scheme called CodeMP to improve TCP performance in disruptive MANETs. CodeMP uses ACK Piggy coding to mitigate self-interference due to contention for a shared wireless channel between TCP data and its ACKs.…”

“…Naturally, the LTE connection can itself be noisy and lossy, causing problems with TCP window mechanism. A possible solution is to use network coding to strengthen the connection (via adaptive redundancy) and make it more robust to losses [7].…”
