Values are the principles that individuals and society agree. During the education process, values are transferred by the texts in Turkish textbooks at schools. Theater texts, especially based on performances, play an important role in the transmission of national and universal cultural values. Because of its importance, the values and the frequency distribution of the values in the theater texts in the 5th, 6th and 7th grade Turkish textbooks were identified in the study. The research study was carried out according to document analysis, one of the qualitative methods. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. In analysis, 10 different values were determined as respect-kindness, friendship, determination, courage, generosity, peace, patriotism, selfsacrifice, love, honesty. In the texts, respect-kindness has been processed the most, while honesty least. According to the results, 50 value contexts were found in 12 theater texts in 9 Turkish textbooks belonging to 6 different publishers. Three theater texts in 5th grade Turkish textbooks were examined and it was determined that 4 different values were emphasized in the texts within 29 contexts. Four theater texts in 6th grade Turkish textbooks were examined and it was determined that 4 different values were emphasized in the texts within 8 contexts. Four theater texts in 7th grade Turkish textbooks were examined and it was determined that 5 different values were emphasized in the texts within 13 contexts. According to the results, it was found that the theater texts in Turkish textbooks are not enough both in terms of quantity and value transfer.
