“…3 -After . 4 -Cores 5-6 were reported to be lower middle Eocene (Naviculopsis minor Zone) by Martini and Muller (1976), but may be as young as the D. hexacantha Zone of Bukry (1977) based on the occurrence of Dictyocha frenquelli, which is reported to be restricted to that zone in tropical and subtropical regions by Bukry (1981). This zone was correlated to NP16-NP17 by Bolli et al (1985).…”

“…The four-sided Star-ofDavid group may also have continued into the Eocene, as we infer D. frenguellii to be related to other three-and four-sided silicoflagellates with unusual spines on the apical plate (D. deflandrei Frenguelli), struts (Corbisema spinosa Deflandre), or basal rings (Dictyocha hexacantha Schulz). The latter two of these taxa are sufficiently ambiguous to be placed in Corbisema by some workers (Perch-Nielsen, 1975;Onodera and Takahashi, 2009) and in Dictyocha by others (Bukry, 1977;Shaw and Ciesielski, 1983). Members of this presumably four-sided Star-ofDavid group persisted into the late Oligocene (Perch-Nielsen, 1975).…”
