Cobaltoceniumselenolate Gold(I) Complexes: Synthesis, Spectroscopic, Structural and Anticancer Properties

Abstract: Cobaltoceniumselenolate is an unusual, highly air‐sensitive, mesoionic compound containing a very soft anionic selenium donor atom. Here we explore its coordination chemistry with Au(I) metal centers and show that its hetero‐ and homoleptic gold complexes are highly colored, air‐stable compounds, which were characterized by 1 H/ 13 C/ 31 P/ 77 Se NMR, IR, UV‐Vis, HR‐MS and single crystal XRD. Cytotoxicity of these polar… Show more

“…Complex 226 was the most active complex with IC 50 values of 8.4 ± 0.9 μM against A549, 5.0 ± 0.2 μM against HT-29, and 3.6 ± 0.3 μM against MDA-MB-231 cells. 167 Mirzadeh et al synthesized and characterized a class of gold( i )–gold( iii ) complexes ( 227a – c ), in which two gold atoms in different oxidation states are present simultaneously in one molecule. They exhibited high stability in the presence of both water and glutathione.…”

“…Additionally, a cobaltoceniumdiselenide (103 in Fig. 7) was also found to exert antiproliferative activity in several cancer cell lines, especially in triple-negative breast adenocarcinoma, with an IC 50 value of 11.5 μM [92].…”

“…1). These complexes displayed potent cytotoxic activity against several cancer cell lines with IC 50 values in the range of 3.5-12.3 μM, this effect being increased by the introduction of the Au(I) center [92]. A design based on the combination of Au(III), Se, and porphyrin yielded a complex (16 in Fig.…”
