Batteries. -Crystals of Co2P are synthesized by evaporation of an aqueous solution of NaH2PO2 and CoCl2 (90°C, 24 h) followed by calcination at 873 K for 6 h. The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, and electrochemical measurements. As an anode material in alkaline rechargeable batteries, Co2P shows a maximum discharge capacity of 223.5 mAh/g and a capacity retention of 97.9% in the 300th cycle. The compound is thus a potential candidate for this purpose and may find application in catalysis and optoelectronics. -(JIAO*, L.; et al.; J. Alloys Compd. 511 (2012) 1, 198-201,
