Co-working for Knowledge Management in Cultural Heritage: Towards a PLM for Museum

Abstract: Dealing with historical knowledge implies specific approaches. Then, modeling it and the different know-hows involved is a complex task. Indeed, patrimonial objects are historical witnesses whose life cycle is hard to handle. In this paper, we discuss possibilities of managing such heterogeneous content through a PLM system dedicated to historical knowledge and museum. Based on previous research in the field of ancient advanced archaeology, we demonstrate our process through an industrial research and developm… Show more

“…Keywords mentioned in the research papers aid us in getting an insight into the focus of the research field of the papers. As there is no standard way in which keywords are mentioned, the authors vary the number of keywords used to outline the paper according to their own criterion while some of the authors don't mention it at all [13,14]. Similar pattern has been observed while performing analysis of the 565 research papers of PLM IC proceedings.…”

“…Im Unterschied zu Dreyer (2015), der sich mit management-relevantem Wissen von Museen beschäftigt, konzentrieren sich Hervy, Laroche, Bernard und Kerouanton in ihrem Fallbeispiel des Musée d'histoire de Nantes (Hervy et al 2013) auf Wissen über Ausstellungsobjekte. Sie untersuchen die Eignung von Informationssystemen aus Industrie und Wirtschaft für die Anreicherung von Objekten mit historischen Informationen.…”

“…In the cultural heritage sector, PLM allows for an appropriate system of communication among different actors through an effective information management (Ding et al 2007). Recently, it has been applied to the management of historical and artistic knowledge in museums, enabling the collection of the available knowledge and the creation of virtual links between the data, thus enhancing the knowledge database with several contents (such as geographic or historic information, semantics) (Hervy et al 2013). The analysis of the processes in the cultural lifecycle promotes the standardization of both procedures and activities, which produce the data output, and allows for the identifying of the actors and the criticalities related to them (Hervy et al 2013).…”
