CO2 capture in a multistage CFB: Part I: Number of stages

Abstract: The most common technology for postcombustion of CO 2 capture is the amine solvent scrubber. The energy consumption for capturing CO 2 from flue gases using amine solvent technology is 15-30% of the power plant electricity production. Hence, there is a need to develop more efficient methods of removing CO 2 . A circulating fluidized bed using sodium or potassium carbonates is potentially such a process, as their high decomposition pressures allow regeneration at low temperatures using waste heat rather than st… Show more

“…For the present work, the adsorber was an one-stage bed only, thus η c cannot reach a high value as expected due to the thermodynamic limitations. To overcome the thermodynamic limitation, a multistage configuration was proposed . The reactor is divided into several stacking stationary bubbling beds.…”

“…RYield is suitable to determine the conversion of each stage to consistent with experimental data. [105][106][107] The minimum temperature approach of heat exchanger was 10 o C. The isentropic efficiency of compressor and turbine was 90%. The parameters related to the case studies are presented in Table 1 for cases 1-3, and in Table 2 for cases 4-6.…”
