CO₂ adsorption on silver nanoparticle/carbon nanotube nanocomposites: A study of adsorption characteristics

Abstract

In this work, we present the analysis of adsorption properties of CO 2 on Ag nanoparticle/carbon nanotube nanocomposites compared to those of N 2 and O 2 . We observe for all gases an identical kinetic behavior, indicating that the nonwetting properties of CO 2 on a carbon surface do not influence the gas adsorption. We perform the analysis in conditions of low pressure and temperature to better observe the physical properties of the system. We observe a first kinetic order for all gases, indicating the absence of gas-gas interactions on the composite surface. The desorption curves for all gases present several desorption temperatures, indicating the presence of different kinds of adsorption sites.
