Co-occurrence of Epstein-Barr Virus Infection and Ascites in Sarcoidosis

Abstract: We present a young woman with a rare association of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, sarcoidosis and massive ascites. The temporal relationship between the EBV infection and ascites strongly suggests a pathophysiological relationship, and other causes of ascites were not identified. The prognosis of ascites is excellent in acute EBV infection.
