Co(II) Sensing Molecular Assembly of Tetracyanoquinodimethane and Hydroxyquinoline Based on Charge-Transfer Interactions

Abstract: A novel charge-transfer molecular assembly formed by electron-acceptor tetracyanoquinone and electron-donor hydroxyquinoline via charge-transfer interactions has been developed as a selective sensor for Co(II). Based on obvious absorption changes, cobalt can be determined in the range from 2.5 × 10−6 mol L−1 to 1.5 × 10−5 mol L−1 with a detection limit of 3.1 × 10−7 mol L−1 at pH 7.0.
